AbbVie is an innovative pharmaceutical company that develops pharmaceutical, nutritional, diagnostic, and medical products for people around the world. They reached out to Ardmac to convert a warehouse into an ISO 7 and 8 cleanroom facility in Sligo, Ireland. The new cleanroom facility was designed to produce medicines to treat thyroid and kidney-related conditions.

The existing warehouse provided a very congested site with severe space limitations, along with all the challenges of working within a live environment.

Works included a full architectural package comprising epoxy floors, modular walls and ceilings, automated and manual doors, gowning and laboratory furniture, and lighting and air distribution.

Client: AbbVie

Location: Sligo, Ireland

Size: 1,800 m2

Duration: 38 weeks

We worked extremely closely with the consultants and the client on this ISO Class 7 and 8 cleanroom project, and delivered a cleanroom envelope solution with a 2.5kN/m2 ceiling with integrated cable management. Given time and space constraints, this was a challenging project but one where there was a predictable and positive outcome.
