Ardmac were contracted to deliver a specialist interior trade package for our clients in Middenmeer, The Netherlands. The architectural fit-out of a new 30+ megawatt, 50,000-square-metre, hyper-scale, tier 4 data centre facility. Ardmac provided a full-time site team along with engineering support, and at peak times, up to 200 skilled operatives were required on site so that the project was completed to a high standard, and within the agreed time frame.
These campus works have since continued into the current 50,000m2 phase, commencing in early 2019, with practical completion of Ardmac scope expected in 2020. This phase includes two multi-storey data centre buildings with adjacent high end administrative buildings for client use.
The architectural fit-out scope of the data halls on this campus includes whitewall, full height security mesh walls and doors, composite walk-on ceilings, structural ceiling grids, ceiling supported and ground supported hot aisle containment, and steel doorsets. Ardmac also completed the full architectural fit-out for the offices and support areas which includes security access and specialist client specific finishes.Particular attention was given to understanding and ensuring compliance with local building codes. This was especially important when considering the fire-rated walls, doors, and compartments on the project.
Fully coordinated BIM modelling was used during the design and construction phases. We also used modular and prefabricated design solutions to advance the construction process and help to deliver a complete scope of works ahead of schedule.
Our team, led by Project Director Sean Mullan, was awarded two consecutive ‘Contractor of the Month’ awards. Ardmac were judged on extensive criteria including safety, contract management, construction, environment, quality, and delivery.
