Fountain Street

The developers at 81 Fountain Street in Manchester’s central business district, contracted Ardmac to fully refurbish the listed seven-storey building into a vibrant and dynamic workspace.

We delivered a comprehensive programme of refurbishment works safely, on schedule, and within budget. The project included polished concrete floors to the main entrance, and a glass-fronted double-height entrance reception featuring a custom-made cast concrete and bronze reception desk, and distinctive ‘origami’ sculpture. The building features a new ‘bridge’ at first floor level, full access raised floors, and exposed ceiling soffits to all office areas. We also remodelled the basement car park, adding a cycle hub, complete with cycle racks, showers, a drying room, and lockers.

Following the success of the Cat A fit-out, in close co-operation with Castleforge Partners, and project managers Capita and Linesight, Kier Group appointed Ardmac to deliver the high spec Cat B fit-out within the building.

“From the outset, the Ardmac team worked in a supportive, transparent fashion, performing to a high level. The management team engaged well with myself, advisers, and other key staff. The Ardmac approach was to always facilitate constructive solutions to the challenges faced on the project. A great example of this was when there was an issue with the substation, and there was no access to electricity. Ardmac proactively and quickly resolved the issue to ensure there was no work stoppage on the project. Throughout the life of the project, we were consistently impressed with the quality of the construction and the delivery of the design team’s vision, on time and on budget.”
