The leading investment management firm, Rathbones, contracted Ardmac to refurbish their offices in the listed Port of Liverpool building. The key challenge of the twelve-week programme was the installation of an access staircase between the second and third floors.
To allow for early site sizing, we formed a temporary soundproof and dust-resistant pod on the third floor. This enabled us to drill core holes between floors to facilitate measurement of key height and width parameters. Early engagement with key subcontract partner MCJ Fabrications, allowed drawings to be produced and approved, enabling a five-week period from site measure to commencement of the installation.
Full implementation of management processes provided a business-as-usual environment for the Rathbones staff who occupied the building. We replaced the windows and the roofing system concurrently to ensure that there was no unnecessary disruption. Coordination with the contractor working on the facade of the building was an important part of the project delivery.
The project was completed to the required specifications and within the agreed budget. The scheme was delivered to the full satisfaction of the listed building officer. The Rathbone project was shortlisted for Project of the Year at the North West Construction Awards.
