Gavin King is SHEQ Manager and joined Ardmac in 2016. Gavin oversees all SHEQ UK activity at Ardmac with passion and focus, managing and supporting all our operational teams. Gavin has grown the UK SHEQ Team, with additional advisers anticipated for this year, to support operations and deliver Ardmac’s Safety First approach. Our Safety First programme takes a fresh approach in the management of safety and is designed to embed a safety conscious mindset which Gavin has used to positively influence colleagues across supply chain and third-party providers.

In the past 2 years, Gavin has supported and advised the SME’s on gaining SHEQ approval with Ardmac and SSIP accreditation. This has been achieved by hosting one to one workshops, consultancy support and often visiting sub-contractors out of hours to offer advice and support.

Gavin has established strong relationships which is fundamentally improving standards and the H&S culture with the supply chain. His commitment, passion and efforts in supporting the supply chain have been invaluable and the sub-contractors have acknowledged his efforts.

Gavin’s natural philanthropic approach has also seen him represent Ardmac by volunteering with Business in the Community at Barrow Fold School, Salford offering business and student mentoring on career pathways and Construction. In addition, Gavin has supported Mustard Tree Charity with the Urban Challenge an Urban Assault Course, raising £ 1000.00 and volunteered at their evening soup kitchens.

Gavin raised money from the Christmas H&S Quiz by organising sub-contractors to make contribution to the Mustard Tree Charity, raising awareness of the charity and focusing on health and safety at traditionally a challenging period in construction.
