At Ardmac, we believe that corporate responsibility goes beyond business. It’s about making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve. That’s why we’re proud to announce our participation in a powerful initiative that brings together inclusion, sustainability, and social impact, with a special focus on supporting the incredible work of the Down Syndrome Centre and Re-Turn.
Inclusion Matters is an environmental and fundraising initiative run by The Down Syndrome Centre in collaboration with Re-turn, Ireland’s national deposit return scheme. Since October 2024, it has helped make sure that over 100,000 cans and bottles have been correctly recycled.
This initiative aligns closely with Ardmac’s ESG commitments and reflects our ongoing dedication to building better environments, not just in the spaces we build, but in the community also. By joining forces, we’re helping to promote circular economy practices, and build a stronger culture of care.
This partnership is more than a campaign — it’s a reflection of our values. We invite our colleagues, partners, and the wider community to join us in celebrating this initiative and amplifying its reach. Together, we can build a future that’s inclusive, sustainable, and full of possibility. Vanessa Rafael, ESG Sustainability Lead at Ardmac
The proceeds from returned bottle and cans are used to fund clinical therapy for children with Down syndrome.
How It All Works:
- Re-turn deliver indoor bins, plastic bags and, if needed, an outdoor storage bin. Ardmac will also receive a unique id tag which are used to seal the bag when full.
- Each full bin has an average of 230 cans/bottles. Locations vary with volume; some fill a bin weekly, and others may take 6-8 weeks. Every can and bottle counts and it is through the collective participation of 100’s of companies that this initiative is so successful.
- Once a location is set up, Re-turn provides the collections. On collection day, the driver will scan the unique id tag on every bag and the details of collection are recorded.
- Monthly, quarterly and annual impact summaries are available and report on environmental savings and charitable contribution.
The Down Syndrome Centre continues to be a beacon of support for families across Ireland, offering vital services that empower children and young adults to thrive. At Ardmac, we’re proud to play our part by raising awareness and providing resources that make a real difference. Our collaboration with Re-turn also reflects our commitment to sustainability, supporting innovative recycling and reuse initiatives that help reduce environmental impact.
