Bupa, Kirkstall Forge, Leeds
A BREEAM excellent project that focused on staff wellbeing and creating a flexible agile environment
Client: Bupa, Kirkstall Forge, Leeds
Location: Leeds
Project Size: 28,000 sq.ft.
Duration: 15 Weeks
In line with Ardmac’s vision ‘To be the Contractor of Choice’ this was the first of three projects that Ardmac has undertaken for Bupa over the last 18 months.
Following the successful completion of the Zenith Car Leasing fit-out in the award winning BREEAM excellent building, One Kirkstall Forge, Ardmac was employed by Bupa to undertake their Cat B and C fit-out works to the two floors below. The Sheppard Robson design met Bupa’s vision creating a modern, agile and flexible workspace that focused on staff wellbeing. Ardmac was employed on a design and build basis and employed Sheppard Robson to complete the design from RIBA Stage 3 to 5.
Working closely with Vitrus Consult, Ardmac adapted the M&E systems meeting the required BREEM Excellent status.
The Cat B and C works to the two floors incorporated a large high spec bespoke joinery, raft ceiling and glazed partitioning packages to create breakout rooms and office space for 300 staff. The complex co-ordination between AV, joinery, security and data was managed early in the collaborative design team workshops with all key stakeholders. The agile working environment was designed so that all desking was undertaken on a workspace sharing model with all staff encouraged to pre-book time within the office environment. The scheme was extremely successful and was delivered to time and budget with zero defects.
“Having worked with Ardmac on a couple of projects, I have found their approach and delivery of a consistently high standard. Working with the site teams has been a pleasure, with a collaborative team approach to resolving details and always maintaining the original design intent. Ardmac deliver to a high standard, and on Bupa, Kirkstall Forge I was particularly impressed with the defect free results and the experienced team that took pride in the delivery. It was genuinely a positive experience.”
