Modular Testing Facility

This project involved the creation of a modular testing facility made up of six external modules. The client needed a rental option that could be quickly deployed. These units were installed on an existing site, adjacent to a current facility, and were designed to operate independently, complete with HVAC and electrical utilities. The entire project was delivered in just 76 days, with Ardmac completing the Off-Site Manufacturing (OSM) process, from site setup to handover, in just 40 days.

Meeting The Client’s Requirements

The client required a cutting-edge modular testing facility to be delivered within a strict timeline. The project presented various challenges that needed to be resolved without affecting the overall schedule.

The facility was to consist of six external, fully self-sufficient modules, complete with integrated HVAC and electrical utilities. Midway through the project, additional requirements were introduced, including extra electrical sockets and modifications to the mechanical and electrical (M&E) scope, such as installing a chiller and compressor. These changes necessitated additional cabling, procurement, and man-hours, creating potential risks to the project timeline.

The electrical work duration increased from 5 days to 11 due to the extensive cabling required. However, a mitigation plan was implemented to recover lost time by overlapping tasks with the testing and commissioning phases, ensuring the project remained on track.
